Mike Tyson

For the story of Mike Tyson was really interesting and sad. I know that there are always those corrupt families, but no one should have to go through that. In Mike’s story there are a couple of factors to blame for how his life was the way it was. You can blame the government for his mother getting fired and evicted from their home, and you can blame his mother. His mother was a bad influence even when they were living in the nice neighborhood. His mother was coning people by selling them watered down vodka, so they would have to keep buying it in order to get that buzz that they always feel. Then when the were evicted she turned for the worst. Instead of going out to get an honest job she turned to selling her body for sex, just so she could pay the bills. She started pushing Mike away by not loving him. This pushed Mike to find love in the wrong places.
The biggest person to blame would be Mike. Mike should have used common sense to know what he was getting into wasn’t right. Even though he started getting into this stuff at a young age he should have had the common sense to make the right decision.
I think that the best thing for Mike was being caught and sent to that school. It turned his life for the best. It gave Mike hope and a sense of security. It is where he changed his ways and where he started his career in boxing. Even though he originally wanted to start boxing to bring is back to Brooklyn and use his skills against the people who wronged him. It was great that he met a person who really cared about him, and that he cared about. He even said in the article that he was happy that he didn’t get caught when he went back to Brooklyn because that would have devastated Cus. He cared about how someone felt, and he never had that when was growing up. He was starting to care about something and someone more than his life in Brooklyn.

Freddie Gray

What happened to Freddie Gray is a mystery, but this could have been prevented from the very beginning. His mother told her lawyer that she started doing drugs when she was in her twenties. This proves that Gray didn’t have a stable home to begin with. Instead his mom making poor choices and wasting money on drugs she could have been saving up her money to buy herself a nicer apartment in a nicer neighbor hood where her kids could grow up. If she would have saved up for a new place she wouldn’t have had to worry about lead poisoning from the paint on the walls. She also would have been able to raise her kids in a better community where they could have learned right from wrong.
In Gray’s case you can also blame the government. Knowing how big of a problem the lead paint was, they shouldn’t have cut back spending on the projects of removing it. I feel like the government cut spending because they didn’t think that the people were worth spending the money on. I feel like they just didn’t care that people were dying from the lead poisoning from the paint. Yes, sure they took most of the lead paint out of stores, but they didn’t do anything to help the people who were suffering. All people are important in this country, no matter how they live. If it were the high up community the government would have done something about it. I feel that the government cares about the people with more money and they don’t care about the other people. The government should be more involved in the poor people’s lives, instead of the government worrying about the rich people.
The way that Gray died is kind of a mystery. The police had to have done something to Gray in order for him to look that limp in the lower half of the body. Most people who have been chased by the cops usually put up a little bit of a fight when the cops are putting them in to their patrol cars. In the video that was in the article his feet were dragging along the ground while they were taking him to the van. They had to have done something to him. It could have been the smallest thing like he fell weird when he was being apprehended or if the police talked him they could have landed on him wrong. The police may not have done it on purpose like the people are thinking, but if there was something that happened they should have said something right away.
